Mountain Biking at Whiteface Action and Adventure in the Adirondacks!
Mountain biking at Whiteface is fast becoming one of Lake Placid's premier activities. The great thing about this is that anyone can participate at some level, as long as you know how to ride a bike!
The best place in Lake Placid to get started with mountain biking is High Peaks Cyclery. You'll find them located at 331 Main St. in the heart of Lake Placid village.
Here, you can rent all the equipment you need if you don't have your own. Helmets are mandatory, of course, but they also recommend full-face helmets, chest protectors, and all the pads for your knees, elbows and shins.
When you're mountain biking at Whiteface, you'll be riding the cross-country ski trails. So there are definitely differences in ability levels, as well as different types of terrain. Make sure to ask them at High Peaks Cyclery (aka High Peaks Mountain Adventure) where the best trails are for your ability level.
There are so many beautiful spots on the trails - there are waterfalls, picnic tables, stream crossings and great views - that you won't want to miss.
And, if you've never been mountain biking before, there are instructional sessions, too. So don't let being a newbie stop you!
