The Trail's End Inn is an out-of-the-way privately owned inn that is located about 20 minutes from Lake Placid. Set right in the High Peaks area in Keene Valley, the Trail's End is a wonderful Lake Placid vacation rental if you're looking for quiet. The views from the large front porch are restful and green (or white, depending on when you're there!) and there are lots of Adirondack chairs for your sitting pleasure.

A hearty breakfast is included, and you can have it early if you're hiking. A large living room has books and a woodstove, or you can rent a private cottage if you really want some privacy.

The Hilton Lake Placid Resort is a national hotel chain, but with a unique Adirondack atmosphere. The Hilton is made up of 3 different buildings, each one with different views and types of rooms.

The Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort is a well-known Lake Placid vacation rental. It's situated literally in the middle of Lake Placid village and right on Mirror Lake, putting it in the perfect location for walking to all of the shopping, restaurants and Olympic activities. This is also a large facility, with rooms ranging from standard guest rooms to luxury multi-room suites with full kitchens and fireplaces.

The Golden Arrow offers a lot of complementary extras, like seasonal use of canoes and paddle boats, and dog sled rides on the lake in the winter. There's a beach literally out the "back door" and a newly renovated indoor heated pool.

Dining is easy, with Charlie's, the Golden Arrow's premier restaurant, right on site. Of course, the hotel's central location gives you access to all of Lake Placid's dining choices.
