KOA camping is a great way for your family to actually have a vacation that everyone can enjoy. If your family likes camping vacations, then a KOA campground is the way to go.
This KOA is in about the best location you could ask for. It's in Wilmington, NY, right between Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain. Before I go any further, let me give you the contact information:
This campground is truly beautiful, sitting right on the Ausable river with incredible views of the gorge and waterfalls. Most of the campsites are in a forest of pines, white birches and maple trees - truly serene and relaxing.
There are fun amenities here - a heated pool, mini-golf, a game room and a play ground for the kiddies. This would be a great spot for a family reunion too, or even a corporate meeting, with their meeting facility for up to 150 people. Of course, it's all decked out in true rustic Adirondack style.
If you forget your toothpaste (something I ALWAYS seem to do!) you won't have to go far to get some. There's a camp and gift store on-site, along with a snack bar and a dump station. You can LP gas here, too, and in a true sign of the times, there's even wireless internet service!Of course, you do still want a few basic luxuries. There are restrooms and hot showers, along with laundry facilities and a kitchen. You can also get any firewood you might need.
KOA camping here at the Lake Placid/Whiteface Mountain KOA provides you with large, level campsites with different sizes, access and hookup options available.
There are large "Super Sites" for those big RVs. These have a 75 foot pull-through, 50 amp electric and water hook-up, sewer hook-up, cable TV, and a picnic table with a fire ring, great for those leisurely evenings. Pets are welcome here at the KOA with a few restrictions. There are pull-through and back-in RV sites, too, with similar amenities.
What if you're looking for more of a basic camping experience? You can find that at the Lake Placid KOA Campgrounds as well.
If you'd like to camp in a tent, but still have electricity for those necessities, the electric tent campsites are what you need. You'll have access to 20 amp electric for $30 or $35. All the sites are convenient to the bathrooms and showers and are near drinking water. They also have picnic tables and fire rings and are for truck campers, tents and pop-up campers.
If you really want to get back to basics, try one of KOA's rustic tent campsites. There are no hook-ups here at all. They're located right in the forest (really pretty sites) and most of the sites are near the bathrooms and showers. They have the picnic table and fire ring as well.
Both the electric and rustic tent campsites allow pets (with restrictions) and have wireless internet. I think it's so amazing that you can sit in a tent without electricity but still surf the internet on your laptop!
You can rent cabins for your camping pleasure, too. These camping cabins are various sizes, with one or more rooms. Many of them have kitchenettes and most have bathrooms with showers and toilets. These cabins are cozy - perfect for a family or larger group. Bring your own linens or sleeping bags!
