Lake Placid is such a beautiful part of our great country and hiking in the Adirondacks is one of our family's favorite things to do.
We traveled to the area a few years ago as I had two weeks vacation from my job as a mail carrier. My wife Judy came with me along with our youngest son Howie and our dog Washington. It was the first time our son had come hiking with us so it really was a family vacation.
My wife and I have often hiked in the Lake Placid area and we usually do a few of the day hikes - I'm afraid we're not serious enough hikers to attempt the Northville-Lake Placid trail! Well we had a wonderful time - the weather around the Lake was absolutely wonderful for the whole trip, although it did get much colder up in the higher stretches of our hikes. The weather around the Adirondack's can change very quickly so we always take along emergency supplies just in case.
